GB V Prayer Journal: Week Two
Gracious Father, my constant Reminder of the heavenly Joy that is to come,
How unworthy am I to be called Your child and yet You draw me closer to You each day. In Your inspired Word, Merciful Saviour, I find Your wisdom and through Your Holy Spirit, I face the challenges and temptations of life. Guide me, Sovereign Lord, as I attempt to remain unspotted from the world. While my flesh may be weak at times, my greatest help comes from You and You alone. Help me to “cut the desires for many things out of my heart to prevent my mind from being dispersed and my stillness lost”, and continuously turn my desires to You (Desert Fathers 10.8). Help me to remember that on this earth, I am merely Your servant and that my greatest Joy and Comfort are yet to come when I leave this mortal life and see You in Your heavenly glory. Bless me, O, God, with chastity, prudence, temperance, and reverence for You and Your Word. In my desires to be more like You, I pray You also help me become a mirror of You to others. Help me to radiate Your promise to those who do not yet know You. Help me to “beware of anything which would sully the mirror in me” as it may lead me away from You (Chambers 23). You know my heart and You know how it thirsts for You and Your will. Let my life be nothing short of good for Your Kingdom, Beautiful Saviour.
I remain in constant pursuit of Your perfectly orchestrated desires for me.
Amen
